OUTSOURCING

Paul's outsourcing experience was gained mainly over 14 years within world class IT Services organisations commencing with ICL which was subsequently taken over by Fujitsu.

Paul was TUPE'd as part of an outsource of Network Services from British Gas Transco to ICL CFM in 1997 when he was the Programme Manager leading a team of project managers deploying national voice, data and microwave network services. This experience gave him a personal insight into understanding the emotional and psychological jorney staff go through in being part of an outsource and their need for information and communication.

On joining ICL CFM Paul was keen to exploit the available opportunities and as the Transition Manager, became a key member of the "A" Team which won the £500M contract for outsourcing the IT Services of HM Customs and Excise. The "A" Team were focussed on providing a solution which supported HMCE in achieving their business objectives. This customer focussed approach has stood the test of time and now forms the basis of any Watton Consulting customer proposal or proposition; a proposal must identify how it supports the customer in achieving their business objectives. Paul worked closely with the customer, bulding their trust and gained a good understanding of Government procurement and approval processes.

The bid material produced was also used as the basis for the winning bid to outsource the DTI's IT Services known as Elgar. These contracts or their replacements have provided ICL/Fujitsu with substantial revenues over the last 12 years and continues to underpin their business in central Government.

Paul's combined experience, including the outsourcing of the FSA's IT Services means that he uniquely understands and appreciates outsourcing from both a Customer, Supplier and Staff perspective which allows him to pre-empt /avoid issues, challenge Suppliers in delivering services and minimise the risk of business disruption or programme failure. Significant benefits which can be yours if you select Watton Consulting to lead your outsourcing programme.
